CBH Perth
11 May 2010
Co-Operative Bulk Handling (CBH) made a leasing pre-commitment for 3 levels, ground, first & second floors at 1 Campbell St West Perth, a new development adjoining their existing premises at 30 Dehli St West Perth. The total net lettable area is 2826sq/m with the second floor linking to the first floor of CBH’s existing premises via an air bridge, integrating the buildings.
The new space has been designed to a high standard incorporating an open plan layout with purpose designed workstations, which include a large amount of storage space and allow for collaborative workflow. The centrally located meeting rooms have been designed as capsule like spaces, allowing the occupants extra privacy. Laminate panels and frosted glass porthole windows detail the exterior sloped sides of the rooms, with coloured graphics decorating the exterior glass, providing a screen from the interior space. Feature acoustic timber panels adorn the ceiling bulkheads, which hover above the main corridors, providing a stylish visual element to divide the space. Planters and additional storage space divide the main corridors, which also conceals additional casual meeting areas.
Colourful elements such as custom wall papers, modular carpet and soft furnishings help to define each level, which is intentionally planned in keeping with CBH’s company logo, representing the harvest cycle; water, growth and harvest. Beginning from the ground floor the predominant colour coding is blue, progressing to green on the first floor, ending in yellow on the second floor, giving each floor its own sense of identity.
A total of 265 workstations are located across the three floors interspersed with meeting areas, quiet rooms, utility areas and breakout spaces. A training room on the ground floor is designed to accommodate up to 50 people, which includes state of the art audio visual equipment to serve a variety of functions.
The end result is a visually stunning and practically designed space that further reinforces CBH’s prominent position as a progressive, major Perth based organisation that enjoys an enviable reputation within the Western Australian agricultural field.

Healthscope
16 June 2009
Healthscope’s Head Office relocation to St. Kilda Rd was the culmination of a 12 month Interior Design and Project Management process by Smith Madden.
The client requested their corporate colours, predominantly platinum, to be used as the basis for the colour scheme of the fit out. In order to bring warmth and interest to the interior, timber, upholsteries and stone were introduced as well as bright colours in breakouts taken from Healthscope’s existing corporate branding palette. Within the open office area a neutral palette was used to ensure the longevity of the fit out.
In addition to embracing the corporate colours, Smith Madden further integrated Healthscope branding into the architecture through the main film pattern glass partitions on all floors. The wave pattern was derived from the company letterhead.
Corporate logos are integrated into reception area glass and bright accent colours from the corporate palette are used in two distinctly different breakout areas where a range of seating styles reflect a café and club/bar feel, providing a more relaxed environment for staff to socialise.
Environmentally sustainable design was a high priority for the design team, and finishes & fixtures were selected with this in mind. Some furnishings from the client’s old office were refurbished rather than buying new. New furnishings were selected with a 10 year warranty, ensuring the longevity of the fitout for the full duration of the 10 year lease.
